Homemade Donuts

The curd is not quite so common in Italy though. Once I was craving for donuts, and had to figure out how to replace the ingredient that does not exist in Italy. The MAIN ingredient! So after a few attempts, I decided to replace the curd with the ricotta cheese and curd cheese (nope, it is not the same as curd). The homemade donuts turned out amazing! Isn’t it lovely when you can make one of your favorite sweets abroad not having the main ingredient? It DOES make one happy, trust me 🙂

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

The cranberry pistachio biscotti turn out really hard (and this is OK!) but they are amazing if dipped into coffee or tea. Or wine. Yes, wine! Although it may sound crazy, Tuscan people eat cantucci dipping them into wine. Thumbprint Cookies

The thumbprint cookies can be made with any type of jam or marmalade. I had some orange marmalade (that is a special one as it is made by my Grandma :)) so I used it for the cookies this time. If I had to go for another jam or marmalade, I would use cranberry or raspberry jam. Both are a bit bitter and I trust they both make the thumbprint cookies really delicious.

Ahh definitely one of my favorites! It is so fresh, so quick to make, so colorful and so so so delicious. Even better if you have local farmer eggs (the “0” ones) as we want poached eggs here.
