“Oh no, this recipe is too sophisticated, I won’t handle”. Hold on! I promise, there is nothing easier than this sesame crusted tuna recipe! Let me be honest here: I also thought I will find it hard as covering tuna in sesame seeds seemed a challenge to me. But trust me, at the end of the day it is as simple as 1, 2, 3!

I am not a big fan of raw/rare food, especially when it comes to fish and meat. The reddish color is actually the reason as to why I always go for a well or a very (very) well cooked fish or meat. That’s why the sesame crusted tuna has always been a naah to me.

Until the day I visited NYC, where I ordered the grilled yellowfin tuna at Royal 35 Steakhouse. Their sesame seared was ex-cep-tio-nal! Since that dinner, the sesame crusted tuna is one of my favorite dishes, and its color is beautiful, isn’t it? 🙂

Preparing the sesame crusted tuna only takes a moment, and it cooks for less than a minute each side. The tuna gets first coated with the sauce that is both sweet and sour, and is then covered by sesame seeds. The dipping sauce (you can make it stronger by adding wasabi) is so rich in flavors that makes this tuna recipe really incredible.

The sesame seared tuna is one of those dishes that needs to be enjoyed and eaten slow. It is not something to be eaten in an instance, you have to enjoy every. Single. Minute. And bite. You will feel how the tuna melts in your mouth, and how tender and soft it is.

I love the sesame crusted tuna with some green salad, and even more – with a little bit of fresh lemon squeezed on top of the fish before dipping it into the sauce.

Enjoy!
